Please be patient, as there is often a backlog. Our team will do their best to confirm within one working day.

Water delivery prices
- $235 incl GST for 6,000 litres

Prices are subject to change.
Once we have confirmed a delivery date with you, we will get your water to you on that day. During our low season we accommodate requested delivery times as much as possible.
In summer we manage a very demanding schedule and want to get your water to you as soon as possible. We can have the driver call or text you when they are on the way if needed. Please do not phone before 6am to ask what time the driver will arrive. Extra calls mean other people trying to order water cannot get through. If it is getting into the evening and your water has not arrived, feel free to call us on 0800 426 269 to follow up.
We confirm your delivery (or your place on our summer waitlist) by text, phone call or email. If you have not received a confirmation, your order is not confirmed.
During summer, when demand is high, we ask that orders are placed through our website. This gives you the fastest response and you will receive confirmation of your delivery.
At other times of the year you will receive confirmation, usually in the same way you asked for the delivery.
All Work and Income customers need to contact their case manager for a purchase order number before booking a delivery by web form, email or phone. We need your client number, name, mobile, email and address.
If you do not have a client number yet, you can apply for one here.
More information: Work and Income help with bills.
Senior pensioners are entitled to $500 of water per year. More information is here.
Our tankers need driveway access 3 metres high by 3 metres wide. If your driveway is lined with vegetation or overhanging trees, please make sure they are trimmed back. Picture a line 3 metres up and 3 metres across from the edges of your driveway: anything inside that space needs to be trimmed.
We carry 50 metres of hose. If your tank is further than 50 metres from the truck, please let us know before delivery. If our tanker arrives and cannot supply because of the distance to the tank, a call-out fee may apply.
If the tanker would have to drive into a paddock or onto grass where you would not take your own vehicle, please consider other access for us (for example a neighbour's driveway, but ask them first).
Dogs need to be tied up, and gates left open where possible (or let us know the gate code).
Where there is no reasonable access, or we have not been told about any of the above before delivery, we take no liability for damage caused during delivery.
Generally, nobody needs to be home, as our drivers can find most tanks. Some customers send us a photo of their tank location. If you have special delivery instructions, a gate code or dogs on the property, please tell us when you book.
We need at least 48 hours notice to cancel an order.
- Please phone the office directly on 0800 426 269, and
- Please also email admin@kurawai.co.nz.
If it is summer and you are struggling to get through on the phone, it is essential that you email us. If we do not receive notice of your cancellation, you will be charged the full amount for your delivery.
02 · Water, loads and tanks
If your taps have stopped, you most likely are. Call the office on 0800 426 269.
Our water tankers carry:
- 6,000 litres (a quarter of a standard size tank)
- 10,000 litres (two fifths of a standard size tank)
That is no problem. We can supply smaller amounts. However, the main costs are the transport and the driver's time, which stay the same, so we need to charge for a full tanker load.
Most standard size concrete and plastic tanks are 24,000, 25,000 or 30,000 litres.
On average, each person uses about 200 litres a day. In the dry season, 6,000 litres can last a family of four one to two weeks if they are careful. Also consider where the outlets are in your tank, as higher outlets leave an unusable amount of water at the bottom.
Keep an eye on your tank levels. If you do not have a tank level indicator, grab a ladder and look inside your tank. An easy way to remember is to link it with another habit, for example checking your tank every time you put the rubbish bin out. Keep a ladder near the tank for this.
In our opinion a tank level indicator is an essential and wise investment. You do not have to spend a lot, and running out of water costs a lot more. Contact us for a recommendation on where to get a cost-effective one.
Our two main water sources come from a certified bore, treated with UV filtration. We do not treat our water with chlorine, as we like to keep it in its purest form, close to rainwater and pleasant to drink.
Occasionally in dry seasons we may need to cart in some town supply, but this is a last resort.
Yes. Please email the team at admin@kurawai.co.nz with your requirements, and we will come back to you with pricing and dates. Please note that in dry seasons pool fills are not a priority and there are important restrictions around them, so we recommend getting organised early, before rainfall drops off closer to November.
03 · Tank cleaning and treatment
Tanks should be inspected every year and cleaned if needed. Ideally, tank cleaning should be done by a professional tank cleaning contractor. We provide this service and can help you maintain a healthy tank and safe drinking water.
Tank cleaning prices
- Vacuum: $280 incl GST
- Full drain and scrub: $450 incl GST
Prices are per tank and do not include any water delivery needed afterwards.
Tank and pool vacuums
Before any clean, we recommend getting your gutters cleaned. We can help you find a professional for this.
The process is similar to vacuuming your floor. We do our best to vacuum the sediment off the floor of your tank from the lid, so we do not need to enter the tank. A vacuum can take up to about 1,500 litres of water. It will not remove all of the sediment, and it does not clean the sides.
Tank and pool drain and scrub
This is only needed when the water is contaminated and no longer safe to drink. We will sometimes also drain a tank if a vacuum has not worked because the sediment is too thick (only with your approval first). Our team pumps out all the contaminated water, into our cleaning truck or onto your garden if you prefer. Then they enter the tank, scrub and hose it down, and suck out the rest of the dirty water.
When we need to drain a tank for any reason, the water has to be discharged. We cannot pump it into our delivery trucks, clean the tank and pump it back in, as that becomes a health issue.
Our recommended home treatments for water tanks are Pour N Go or original bleach. Pour N Go is proven safest for human consumption.
Information on treating your tank with bleach is here.
Pour N Go is available from retail stores such as Mitre 10 and Bunnings. Visit the Pour N Go website. Please always read the specifications on any product you buy for treating drinking water.
Treating a water tank needs to be ongoing to be successful. Gutter-fed tanks will always have some bacteria or E. coli in the water. Most people are not affected, but if anyone in your household has a compromised immune system, keeping on top of the dosage is very important.
The most cost-effective way to make sure your drinking water is free of bacteria is to boil it before drinking, but this does not solve the underlying problem.
We do not recommend testing water from gutter-fed tanks, as around 95% of results will come back positive. We do recommend testing if someone has become ill from bacteria such as Campylobacter.
