Terms and Conditions

How ordering from The Waterboy Mangawhai works, and the terms of trade that apply to every order. Last updated 8 October 2026.

The Waterboy Mangawhai is the trading name of Kurawai Limited (company number 9029664), referred to in these terms as "we", "us" and "the supplier". When you place an order with us, by this website, phone, text or email, you accept these terms. Part A explains the practical side of booking. Part B sets out the general terms of trade.

Part A: Booking terms

1. Orders and confirmation

An order placed on this website is a request for delivery on your preferred date. We confirm the date by text, phone call or email. If you have not heard back from us, your delivery is not yet confirmed. In summer, demand is high and there can be a waitlist; we will tell you where you sit and get your water to you as soon as we can. During summer, please order through the website rather than by phone, as that gives the fastest response.

2. Prices

Prices on this website include GST. A 6,000 litre load is $235.00 and a 10,000 litre load is $345.00. Tank cleaning and other services are priced per tank as shown on the booking page. Prices are subject to change, and the price shown at the time you pay is the price for that order.

Deliveries outside our standard Mangawhai service area carry a distance charge of $3.50 per km plus GST, measured on the return road trip from our fill station at 767c Kaiwaka Mangawhai Road. The booking page works this out from your address and shows it before you pay. A weekend delivery adds a $100.00 call-out fee and a public holiday delivery adds $150.00; where a public holiday falls on a weekend, the public holiday fee applies.

3. Payment

Online orders are paid in full at the time of booking by card or Afterpay through Stripe, our payment provider. We do not see or store your card details. Orders placed by phone or email are payable on delivery, or before delivery if we ask, unless we have agreed credit terms with you in writing.

4. Cancellations and refunds

We need at least 48 hours notice before the day of delivery to cancel an order. To cancel, phone the office on 0800 426 269 and also email admin@kurawai.co.nz, quoting your booking reference. If we do not receive your cancellation at least 48 hours before the delivery day, the full price of the delivery is charged. A prepaid order cancelled with at least 48 hours notice is refunded, less any reasonable costs we have already incurred for that order.

5. Access to your property

Our tankers need a clear driveway 3 metres high and 3 metres wide, with overhanging branches trimmed back. We carry 50 metres of hose; if your tank is further than that from where the truck can park, tell us when you book. If the tanker would have to drive onto grass or into a paddock that you would not take your own vehicle on, please arrange other access for us, such as a neighbour's driveway with their permission. Dogs must be secured and gates left open or the code given to us.

If we arrive and cannot deliver because of access, distance to the tank, a full tank, or instructions we were not given, a call-out fee may be charged to cover the wasted trip. Where there is no reasonable access, or we were not told about an access issue before delivery, we are not liable for damage to driveways, grounds or property that occurs while delivering.

6. Delivery

Once a date is confirmed we will deliver on that day. Outside summer we fit around requested times where we can. In summer we run a full schedule and cannot give delivery times, though the driver can text you when on the way. Nobody needs to be home; most tanks can be found from your notes, a gate code or a photo. Water is delivered into the tank you nominate and we are not responsible for the condition of your tank, pipes or pump.

7. Water quality

Our drinking water is locally sourced and supplied in accordance with Taumata Arowai drinking water requirements. Once delivered, the water is in your tank and its ongoing quality depends on your tank, roof, gutters and filters. Tank cleaning is available as a separate service.

8. Tank cleaning

A tank vacuum removes sediment from the bottom of the tank with the water left in place. A drain and scrub empties the tank, which is only done when the water is no longer safe to drink or a vacuum cannot clear the sediment, and is agreed with you first. Water pumped out during a drain cannot be returned to the tank or to our trucks, for health reasons, and is discharged on site. You will need a water delivery afterwards.

9. Pool fills

Pool fills are subject to availability and are not a priority in dry periods, when drinking water comes first. Book early, before the dry season, and we will confirm whether and when we can fill your pool.

10. Work and Income customers

If Work and Income is paying for your water, get a purchase order number from your case manager before booking and give us your client number, name, mobile, email and address.

Part B: General terms of trade

11. Definitions

"Customer" means any person ordering products from the supplier. "Products" means any goods or services ordered by the customer from the supplier, including water, tank cleaning and pool fills. "Price" means the cost of the products. "Supplier" means Kurawai Limited, trading as The Waterboy Mangawhai.

12. Acceptance

Any instruction received by the supplier from the customer for the supply of products, including an order placed through this website, constitutes an order and acceptance of these terms and conditions.

13. Price

Prices published on this website include GST. Quotations given separately in writing are exclusive of GST unless they say otherwise. Additional charges apply for deviations from the amount of products ordered, additional requirements, and urgency where a delivery time is brought forward, including related costs such as overtime. Where no price is stated in writing or agreed orally, products are supplied at the supplier's standard rates at the time of the order. The supplier may increase the price by the amount of any reasonable increase in its costs between the date of the order and delivery.

14. Delivery, risk and ownership

Delivery takes place on the agreed delivery date at the customer's premises unless varied by agreement. The supplier will deliver within a reasonable time of the order. The customer must ensure the supplier has access to the water tanks on the premises. If the supplier cannot obtain access to deliver, or finds the tank already full, the customer is liable for the supplier's reasonable costs of the failed delivery. Risk in the products passes to the customer on delivery. Ownership of the products remains with the supplier until the supplier has received payment in full of all amounts relating to them.

15. Payment terms

Payment in full is due at the time of booking for online orders, and otherwise on delivery or, if the supplier requires, before delivery. Where the supplier agrees to invoice after delivery, payment is due within 7 business days of the invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing. Any credit is on the supplier's standard credit terms, which may change from time to time. If the customer does not pay in full by the due date, the customer must pay default interest at 5% above the interest rate charged by the supplier's bank to its customers from time to time, compounding monthly, together with any costs of collecting the debt, without prejudice to the supplier's other rights.

16. Cancellation and refunds

No cancellation charge applies if an order is cancelled at least 48 hours before the day of delivery. After that time, an accepted order may only be cancelled on terms that compensate the supplier for all expenses incurred and otherwise protect it against loss, as agreed with the supplier; otherwise the full price is payable. A prepaid order cancelled at least 48 hours before the day of delivery is refunded less any reasonable costs the supplier incurred before the cancellation. For ongoing supplies, the supplier may instead credit a prepaid amount to future supplies.

17. Exclusions of liability

Subject to clause 18, the supplier and its directors, employees and agents do not give any warranty, and accept no responsibility, that the products comply with the requirements of any legislation or regulatory measure relating to the products, beyond the drinking water requirements referred to in clause 7. They are not liable for delays or other matters relating to delivery caused or contributed to by the customer, by errors or omissions arising from verbal instructions, or by industrial disputes, accidents, acts of God, equipment failure, mischievous damage or any other cause beyond the supplier's control, including a partial or total breakdown of the supplier's operation. In no event are they liable, whether in tort, contract or otherwise, for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profits, or special damage suffered by the customer. Any liability for which they are held responsible, whether or not due to negligence, mistake, system failure, or early, late or non-delivery, is limited to replacing the deficient products or paying an amount equal to the price of the relevant products or services.

18. Consumer Guarantees Act

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where you acquire the products for personal, domestic or household use. If the customer acquires, or holds itself out as acquiring, the products for the purposes of a business, the guarantees in the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the conditions and warranties in the Sale of Goods Act 1908 or otherwise implied by law do not apply.

19. General lien

In respect of all unpaid debts due from the customer, the supplier has a general lien on all goods and materials held for the customer and, without prejudice to its other rights, may dispose of them and apply the proceeds to the outstanding amount if the debt remains unpaid for more than 90 days after it was due.

20. Guarantee

If the customer is a company, then in consideration of the supplier providing products at the request of the customer's directors and shareholders, those directors and shareholders personally guarantee payment to the supplier of the price and all other amounts payable by the customer.

21. Use of this website

You may use this website to find out about our services and to place orders. You must give accurate details when you book, and you must not use the site in a way that interferes with its operation or with other customers' use of it. Content on this site, including text, images and the logo, belongs to the supplier or its licensors and may not be copied for commercial use without permission. We do our best to keep the information on the site accurate, but prices, availability and service areas can change.

22. Variation

These terms take precedence over any terms of the customer unless the supplier expressly agrees otherwise in writing. The supplier may vary these terms at any time by publishing the updated version on this website. Orders placed after a variation takes effect are subject to the amended terms.

23. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand, and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
