Tank vacuum
$280incl
We vacuum the sediment off the floor of the tank from the lid. A vacuum can take up to about 1,500 litres of water. It will not remove all of the sediment, and it does not clean the sides.
We vacuum the sediment off the floor of your tank from the lid, or drain and scrub the tank when the water is no longer safe to drink.
Every tank should be inspected once a year and cleaned if needed. A vacuum lifts the sediment off the floor. A full drain and scrub is for when the water is contaminated.

Both prices are per tank and include GST. Water delivery to refill a drained tank is charged separately, at our standard delivery prices.

Needed when the water is contaminated and no longer safe to drink, or when a vacuum has not worked because the sediment is too thick. We pump out the water, enter the tank, scrub and hose it down, then suck out the rest.
We recommend getting the gutters cleaned before any tank clean, and we can help you find someone to do it.
Before any clean, we recommend getting your gutters cleaned. We can help you find a professional for this.
Call 0800 426 269 or email us to book. Tell us how many tanks you have and what you have noticed in the water.
We start with a vacuum where that will work. If the sediment is too thick, we only drain the tank with your approval first.
If the tank was drained, book a water delivery to refill it, and keep up an ongoing treatment routine.
Gutter-fed tanks will always have some bacteria or E. coli in the water. Most people are not affected, but anyone with a weakened immune system needs extra care.
Our recommended home treatments are Pour N Go or original bleach. Pour N Go is proven safest for human consumption and is sold at stores such as Mitre 10 and Bunnings. Visit the Pour N Go website.
If you use bleach, follow the guidance on disinfecting storage tanks with bleach. Always read the specifications of any product you use to treat drinking water.
Treatment only works if you keep it up. Boiling water before you drink it is the cheapest way to make sure it is free of bacteria, but it does not fix the underlying problem in the tank.
A tank vacuum is $280 incl GST and a full drain and scrub is $450 incl GST. Both prices are per tank and do not include any water delivery needed afterwards.
Tanks should be inspected every year and cleaned if needed. Ideally the cleaning is done by a professional tank cleaning contractor.
A vacuum works like vacuuming a floor: we lift sediment off the bottom of the tank from the lid. It can take up to about 1,500 litres of water, will not remove every bit of sediment and does not clean the sides. A drain and scrub empties the tank so our team can get inside and clean it by hand.
No. When a tank is drained, the water has to be discharged, either into our cleaning truck or onto your garden if you prefer. Pumping it into a delivery truck and back into a clean tank becomes a health issue.
We do not recommend routine testing of gutter-fed tanks, as around 95% of results come back positive. We do recommend testing if someone has become ill from bacteria such as Campylobacter.
